VICTORES SUMUS OMNES (2023) EVERYONE’S A WINNER

The winners bench with the Latin inscription “Everyone’s A Winner” complements my “START/FINISH” line and the cast-iron map installed over 10 years ago as a marker for the North Downs Way. The Latin inscription Victores Sumus Omnes was the language spoken in the Middle Ages when the Via Francigena and the pilgrim route were founded. If you look up the inscription, you might smile and realise that it literally means “Winners are we all”.

ALICE is a Dover District Council commission as part of Art in the park: Kearsney interpreted an ACE funded project in Kearsney Abbey Gardens, Kent.

Bird Homes

Tischler Wood’s Bird Home installation was part of the Wild New Territories exhibition, curated by Kathy Kenny and Ron den Daas. Each bird home is individually made from precious timber, rescued from a skip of one of Britain’s best-known art schools and embellished with gold leaf or camouflage pattern. Tischlerwood sees her installation as having both a financial and an ecological context. START/FINISH Line (2010)

Alma Tischlerwood wins North Downs Way End-of-Trail Marker (2010). Dover Arts Development (DAD) announced that a British artist – Alma Tischlerwood has been commissioned by the Kent County Council for the End-of-Trail Marker with her START/FINISH Line. The 12-person jury were particularly impressed by Tischlerwood’s sense of purposeful playfulness. She told us “You have to strike a balance between lively innovation and maintaining the traditions of the locality” www.dadonline.eu

SIMPLY RED & GREEN (2009)

Inspired by Alfred Lord Tennyson’s phrase, ‘Nature, red in tooth and claw’, this installation SIMPLY RED & GREEN foregrounded the colour red. It was facilitated in collaboration with Sara Willett and Brian Archer at the Luxmore Gardens, in SE London, during August 2009, commissioned by the Brockley Assembly Fund, and kindly supported by Lewisham Council
